Ziegra Ice Plants

You would be forgiven for thinking of Ziegra as a manufacturer of stand alone ice machines only and to a large extent that is true. We do provide probably the widest range of stand alone ice machines on the market today. But we do so much more than that.

Over the last 30 years we have installed ice plants of all shapes, sizes and configurations, all over the UK mainland and Islands.

In some cases the projects are relatively straight forward, when the requirement was for a dedicated ice machine with a static store, which is then manually unloaded.

At the other end of the scale, we have installed fully automatic systems where ice is delivered to a point of use with no manual intervention and we've also supplied just about every alternative in-between those two extremes.

Many of the ice plant contracts we have been awarded required us to provide a complete design, project management, installation, commissioning and training package and it would be wrong not to mention that in some cases the requirements have been quite challenging. Often because of the site location, access issues or just the complexity of the projects requirements. In some cases a self-service system is also requires but in each of those cases the site may have bespoke user restrictions, which need to be catered for.

The weather can often be the biggest challenge for plants of this nature but we have been complimented by many customers for our dedication and commitment to complete our responsibilities professionally and on time, regardless of what the weather threw at us.

In other cases we have had the luxury of working indoors, where the weather has no impact on the project. In these cases, the challenges are in the main related to planning the installation in such a way as to allow production to continue without interruption. This is particularly the case in high capacity, 24 hour food manufacturing environments. For these projects there is a completely different set of priorities and the planning needs to be meticulous. Many of the systems we have installed in the food manufacturing sector over the years, are fully automatic and are worked hard 24 hours a day, providing reliable repeatability for 15 to 20 years or longer in some cases and in high or low risk environments.

We work hard to evaluate each project without making comparisons but still drawing on the wealth of experience we have gained.
