When thinking about your ice requirements, you may be inclined to think purchase without considering rental at all.
And you would be forgiven for thinking that in most circumstances the purchase route is a no brainer, if the ice machine is in use all year round. Conversely, if the requirement for ice is seasonal, then a rental ice machine usually makes more sense and we have many seasonal customers who rent our ice machines for a few months or more each year.
Deciding which route to pursue is not always that straight forward.

There are often other considerations, worthy of factoring in to the mix. For example; When a product is contracted to a manufacturer for a set period of time, possibly a year or two. Often in these circumstances, the margins for the contract are small and the manufacturer will want to amortise all known costs, to ensure their unit prices for the contract are reliable. They can then be confident that their profitability is reasonably well safeguarded and also they won’t run the risk of holding a piece of equipment that may become a white elephant, gathering dust in a store room.
